MAV Personnel is searching for an experienced HR Generalist in the Greater Baton Rouge, LA area.  This is a direct placement role in which the candidate will be hired by the client company.

Job Description:

Administers the day-to-day operations and transactions of the human resources functions.  Ensures the efficiency of the human resources information systems and shared services through consolidation, standardization, and automation; emphasizes empowerment by providing user friendly, employee-oriented access to appropriate HR services.

Duties:

Business Leadership & Strategy:

  • Identifies best practices and creates efficient programs, policies and procedures; create work flows / processes to achieve standardization / consistency (automation where possible), while providing flexibility / agility to customize appropriately for application
  • Continuously improve by identifying, diagnosing (determining root cause), and adjudicating issues; initiate corrective actions and ensure follow-up / closure of action items
  • Assists employees with personnel information and interpretation of personnel policies and procedures
  • Evaluate proposed projects and owns Project Management of non-routine HR activities; including identification of stakeholders, communication plans, implementation strategies, etc. for global / local roll out
  • Maintains effective level of business acumen regarding the business
  • Generates monthly and annual reports as required, and adhoc reports as requested
  • Participates in and responds to audits in all HR disciplines

Organizational and Employee Development:

  • Assists with the performance evaluation and career development program
  • Updates job descriptions and coordinates changes in Organizational charts

Staffing Management:

  • Processes new-hire, life events / status change, and termination paperwork
  • Assists with new-employee orientation – specifically benefits enrollment
  • Assists with filing EEO-1 annually

Employee / Labor Relations:

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention, etc., by providing excellent customer service (i.e. timely responses to inquiries, pro-active communications, accurate information, etc.)

Benefits:

  • Responsible for consolidation, standardization, automation and integrity of the benefits administration system and data:
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide carriers with accurate eligibility information
  • Processes changes and ensures dissemination to carriers
  • Assists with annual renewals by working closely with insurance brokers and consultants on the benefits strategy ensuring changes are captured and reflected in the system and on applicable spreadsheets
  • Creates, reconciles, allocates and processes billings; ensures accuracy and prepares payment. Resolves discrepancies with providers.
  • Provides customer service by responding to benefits inquiries from employees regarding plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes, and other general inquiries. Escalates issues as necessary
  • Processes and administers absence / leave management; effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications
  • Empowers employees to utilize self-service portals
  • Provides outputs / reports as required and as requested
  • Provides input, guidance, assistance, and transfer of knowledge to all locations on various employee benefits plans
  • Acts as the Wellness Coordinator for the Company; researches, designs challenges, controls budget

Compensation:

  • Time and Attendance: Responsible for the consolidation, standardization, automation and integrity of the time and attendance administration system and data
  • Validates the verification of employee time and attendance reporting
  • Creates import for interface to the payroll administration system
  • Provides customer service by responding to inquiries from employees and supervisors regarding time, attendance, pay rules, accruals, and other general inquiries. Resolves discrepancies; escalates issues as necessary
  • Processes and reconciles year end vacation buy back and carryover
  • Empowers employees to utilize self-service portal
  • Runs reports as required and as requested
  • Provides input, guidance, assistance, and transfer of knowledge to all locations on various aspects of the system

Payroll:

  • Responsible for the consolidation, standardization, automation and integrity of the payroll administration system and data:
  • Ensures the accuracy of payroll
  • Processes time and attendance imports, exempt OT / Comp time, garnishments, employee requests, changes, VOE’s, etc.
  • Reconciles payroll and initiates corrective actions as required
  • Provides customer service by responding to inquiries from employees regarding pay, requests, etc
  • Empowers employees to utilize self-service portal
  • Runs reports as required and as requested
  • Remains current on, and provides critical evaluation of, existing and pending Federal, State, and Local regulations; interprets, initiates gap / risk analysis, and pro-actively provides / recommends solutions for application at a global / local level.

Technology:

  • Manages and assists in assessing existing and prospective human resources information systems (i.e. benefits administration, payroll, time and attendance, etc.) regarding trends in technology, effective practices, data integration and security, and software and/or vendor selection.
  • Utilize HRIS to eliminate administrative tasks, empower employees, and meet the other needs of the organization.

Education Requirements:

  • BS in Human Resources or other related discipline; or equivalent HR experience
  • Appropriate Certifications desired (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, etc.)
